What Type of
Photo Do I Need?
For your Digital Portrait Painting choose a photograph that shows the
subject well and in which important details are clearly visible.
Original digital photos are best, for printed photographs 8x10 is best
but sometimes 5x7 or even 4x6 can be used. This
photo will be the basis for the painting so your subject should be as
you want them represented. Some enhancements and touchups can be made to
the photo to correct off-colors and improve lighting, remove red-eye and
undesirable blemishes, neaten hair, etc. Plus, as long as the subject is
clearly visible they can be cropped out of an image that includes
another person. When we discuss your portrait painting we can explore
the possibilities. Damaged or vintage photos may require a separate
restoration fee and a longer time to completion. If you aren't sure what
photo to use I will be happy to lend my expertise in helping you make a
choice.
**After you order your digital portrait painting
I will email you a link to the image upload webpage where you can easily upload your photo file.
For digital photos do
not compress or reduce the image. If at all possible, upload
the original image file. If you do not have a digital
photograph, you will need to scan the photograph or take it to a
document imaging center that can scan your photo and put it on a
CD for you. Scan the photo at a high resolution (8x10 photos
should be scanned at 300dpi, 5x7 or 4x6 at 600dpi), save the file (.png, .tif, or .psd preferred),
then upload the file to me. You can also "snail mail" a photo CD if
you prefer. Please do not mail me irreplaceable photographs, you
would not want a precious photo to get lost in the mail!
